I met this week’s guest while I was waiting for my children during their Tae Kwan Do class one Wednesday evening. I noticed that she had three young children and she looked fabulous! Her littlest one could not have been any older than 6 weeks old and here she was looking great, not tired, and still very loving to her children! So, wanting to let her know what I thought, I paid her the compliment and we just started talking. Then, I found out more and just had to have her on our show.
So,this week’s show we feature local mom Rosie Alvarez. She shares with us how she balances three children under the age of 5 while running a successful business from her home. She discusses with us how she is able to have conference calls from home with clients and what happens when one of her children wakes up unexpectedly during call. She has a great sense of humor! She also tells us a great phrase of “forward motion” and explains what that means. She offers advice on how she used her career experience to launch a business to help balance work and family. So, listen to her sound advice.
You’ll also hear about a wonderful new computer based organization tool, Cozi Central (www.cozi.com)that helps families coordinate each other’s schedules from work and home. It’s FREE, easy to use and has some great features to help any family! I have it on my own computer and think it’s a great tool! Thanks for listening!
We wanted to feature a very special person this week. We all as moms have wondered about how we can volunteer or make a difference especially when it comes to children, right? We are all so blessed with our own healthy children that sometimes we forget there are children that are not as healthy as our own. So, this week we share with you an amazing mom Laura Schwartz, who’s daughter has severe asthma. She emotionally shares with us her daughter’s journey to the wonderful place called Camp Boggy Creek, located just outside of Orlando. Her story brought Michelle and myself to tears. There was one part of Laura’s story that did it, so listen and you’ll be crying too!
Camp Boggy Creek is a camp for children with different diseases such as asthma, diabetes, or any other chronic illness. You will be inspired and motivated to learn more about Camp Boggy Creek and how you can get involved or let other parents who have children with chronic illnesses know about this wonderful resource. They have physicians, nurses, camp counselors, and families that come every year to volunteer their time. It truly is heaven on earth for some very special families.
You will also hear more about the new Central Florida Moms website launch and the Baby Expo that Z88.3fm is holding on July 28th! Thanks for listening!
Cloth diapers. How do you feel about this subject as moms? We know that our moms used them on us as infants and we also know that it would be the environmentally friendly alternative to use them. However, how much do they cost? What are other environmentally safe products that we can have our children use? How can we be more “green moms?” On this week’s show, we answer some of your questions regarding cloth diapers with local mompreneur Kristy de Gregory with Wee Willie Winks. Kristy offers some great advice about working from home, running a busy online business and being a mom to a young son. Her business has some really great products such as Amoeba friends and Baby Legs. Find out all about them when you listen!
You’ll also learn about Eyejot, a new way for parents to video message with relatives and friends. It’s so easy, you won’t believe it! All you need is a really good camera and your computer, then tah-dah! You’re eyejot-ting! (It’s the new, up and coming verb.)
