“He’s not autistic, but… ” are the words no parent ever wants to hear. What would you do? This week, we bring to you a remarkable mom, Tenna Merchent who wrote the book, He’s Not Autistic, But... In our interview with her, Tenna candidly discusses with us her long journey in finding her son, Clay the care he desperately needed. It was her inner fortitude that led her down the path of physicians and nontraditional practitioners in order to improve her son’s life and their family life. I was amazed at how she continually tried other alternatives and did not stop!!! She is an excellent example of what lengths a mom will go through to help her child…

Tenna tells us about the signs and symptoms that Clay displayed as young as 9 months old. These symptoms included banging his head, walking on his toes, numerous allergies and his bizarre behavior especially in the evening. Then, she walks us through the various physicians, the resistance, the complacency, the dismissal of several medical specialists and how she continued to follow her instincts and sought care with herbalists, osteopaths, naturapaths, acuptuncturists, and several others. Each helped a little bit more, but not the drastic changes she prayed for every day. This is not to say that if your child has some or several of these symptoms that he/she has autism. Her story is meant for you to seek further evaluation or consultation from professionals if you are truly concerned for your child.

She also briefly talks about vaccines, aluminum, and other methods that helped Clay. You have to listen to her tell her story! You will find her courage to be inspirational. Also, if you know of anyone who is concerned about their children’s health and behavior, please go online or purchase her book for some insight. Talk with your healthcare provider. If he/she doesn’t give you the information you want, please seek other help as Tenna did for her son.

You will totally appreciate listening to your gut instinct and realizing that oftentimes, Moms DO KNOW what’s best for their children.
