Whew! FCATs are done here in Central Florida. But, as parents, do we really know what the FCATs were about?! Well, we have Jane Lockett this week to discuss this topic with us. We also have our Restaurant mom back to share with us Trish’s Tea here in Orlando Florida.

So, if you were like me, this year was my first “official” year for FCATs. I am rather thankful it is over and done with. There was a big to do with taking FCATs and there was even a check list that went home with my son to review basics such as when he should go to bed, what he should eat for breakfast, and that I should kiss him goodbye. ( I was a little shocked that something like this came in his folder. This should be something we ALL do on a regular basis and should be in his backpack the FIRST DAY of SCHOOL!! Not in March, 6 months later….. ) But, as my friend said, it was a friendly reminder.

Jane Lockett (yes, she is also the owner of the great Children’s Orchard) talks with us about the reason behind the FCATs and why it was developed. We learn a little history of Florida education here and she also candidly tells us how we can change policy in our school systems. It’s amazing and interesting how this test came about and how it affects each of our local schools. So, make sure and listen!!

Then, on a relaxing and feminine note, we hear from Restaurant mom about Trish’s Teas in Baldwin Park! They have Teddy Bear Tea for children at only $9/child! She tells us that they have either tea or chocolate milk in their own tea pot as well as a three-tiered presentation of goldfish, sandwiches, and cookies! How fun! You can ask for anything you ‘d like! Also, for us moms, they have High Tea for about $20/person and all the fixings! They are open Mondays-Saturdays- 10 am to 7 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. They have over 150 teas and a retail food area in addition to the tea room. I was so excited that I was making plans DURING the interview. Such a treat and a girly thing to do, don’t you think? Michelle said she would take me there for my much belated birthday. Woo-hoo! Can’t wait!

So, for this week’s show we have some educational information as well as some totally fun, feminine treat yourself information! We hope you enjoyed both this week.
