When you’re at the grocery store, don’t you just wish you had an extra pair of hands to hold your little one’s snacks while you shop? Well, on this week’s show, we have an answer for your wish! OnTray2Go.com is your answer! Creative mom, Laura Hamrick had a rather typical day at the store and finally decided one day that she had just enough! That was back in November 2005. Her desire to solve this common mommy issue of having a handy container for the yummies her children loved began to spin her creative wheels in her head.

We also have another solution regarding the topic of nannies. If you’ve ever wondered, we have a Central Florida answer for you! The Nannies of Distinction visits us this week and shares who they are and how they can solve your child care problems!

First, Laura candidly shares with us how OnTray2Go.com first started with her idea back in November of 2005! Without knowing much about the industry, Laura was able to do some throrough research and discovered her path to creating a fabulous product. However, it wasn’t without some growing pain,she admits. Creating a product was something entirely new to Laura and her devoted husband. She tells us how she hired a patent attorney and through luck and her positive energy, found all the necessary people to make her dream come true.She found a design company to help her make the prototype. Then, they found manufacturer who was also in Columbus, Ohio! (Who would have thought that just around the corner was the help she needed?!) She premiered her beautiful website in June of 2007!

She did tell us how it was her husband’s belief in her dream and a little “borrowing ” from a local grocery store that the initial prototype was redesigned to make what we all see today. This is a wonderful example of how it takes the support of your husband, family and friends to make your dream come true! Huge kudos for Laura’s hubby!!!

When I asked her what advice she would give to us moms who are still in the “thinking phase” of creating something, she said very matter-of-factly “surround yourself with people who know more than you.” This way they can guide you in the right direction and keep you from making mistakes in the long run. We all should heed her advice in all aspects of our lives, right? We need to ask for help more often!!!! Then, we meet with the lovely four women of the Nannies of Distinction. They are Marcia, Tyneshia, Amanda and Abbi- four women who love children and giving families the trusted care they need when looking for caregivers who truly are passionate and loving. They are located here in Central Florida and have very unique backgrounds. Together they make a great team and resource for one another.

Marcia has her background in education and has a degree in special education. She has had over 15 years of childcare experience. Amanda received her activity therapist certificate in 1995. Her specialty is with multiples and offers a very special service for parents. She says that she is the one who will take care of your newborn from 6 weeks to 6 months of age at night. Yes, let me repeat that. AT NIGHT… so, you sleep and when your baby or babies need to eat, she will wake you up, take the baby(ies) to you to breast or bottle feed, then she will put them back to sleep while you yourself fall back to sleep!!! I was totally in shock! Where was Amanda when I was bleary-eyed with each of my three?!?! I would’ve totally loved to call her. She works 3-7 nights/ week.

Then, we have Tyneshia whose specialty is potty training. So any of you moms who have issues, you may just want to give Tyneshia a call and come to the rescue! Finally, we have Abbi who grew up with a generous mom who did in home childcare as well as was a foster parent. So, with that Abbi has always been surrounded by children and is the group’s accounting director.

What is also very unique about the Nannies of Distinction is their commitment to continually learn about new things so they may apply it with their own experience with caring for their families’ children. They have monthly workshops where various experts come to speak to them about a variety of topics relating to parenting and childcare.
