We have two incredible moms in two beautiful places to share their creative products for you this week! We have Cara Sinclair from Canada with KaraJamesBags.com and Katie Cole from Colorado with babyandmomma.com to tell us about their fun businesses to help make our lives as moms more fashionable and trendy too!

Our first ever international guest is Cara Sinclair, who owns Kara James Bags with her brother, Derren and close friend, Erinn. Their light bulb moment was one night when she and Erinn were at home and taking care of their 6 month old babies. They enjoyed the bags they had, but wanted to dress them up. So, Cara took her one of her moms crazy belts and wrapped it around the bag! Ouila! Their business was born!

They have 8 classic styles of their luxury bags avaiable with interchangeable shoulder straps or belts that are either beaded, crystal, animal print or other fun designs! They plan to have a clutches for the holiday line and are coming out with a new 2009 Spring line as well.

Cara shares with us two important lessons for moms who want to start their own business:

1. Have a business with a partner because it is so overwhelming to have a business and have to deal with all the little details. Surround yourself with positive people and you’ll have no problem. (Oh, was that a second lesson added in?!)

2. Just do it! Turn your coffee time conversations into something real. Once you do, everything will start falling into place. And don’t be afraid to fail, just have the courage to start.

Then, we have Katie Cole comes to us from gorgeous Colorado and tells us that it was being pregnant with her first child that inspired her to look for more fun and trendy items to wear. Katie loves to shop and while she was pregnant noticed that although there were other designs out there, nothing really captured her spirit and her sense of humor. So, she and her wonderful hubby decided to try their hand at creating maternity tees and baby onsies.

The first challenge, Katie shares with us was actually deciding how to bring their idea to an actual product. They decided to manufacture overseas and through much research, they found the best quality material that was soft, stretchy, and comfortable for both mom and baby. Both tremendously enjoyed the creative side of designing shirts and brainstorming ideas together.

She also admitted that like any other couple who works together, it is an adjustment working with your spouse. Husbands definitely work differently than their wives and eventually, they learned to balance each other and thus, strengthening their marriage.

They continue working together to create fun, trendy and comfortable products for both baby and momma. Katie hopes to expand babyandmomma.com to other boutiques around the country as well as continue her online business. So, any of you who would like to put her items in your boutique, contact Katie!
